Director of Attendance and Student Welfare -
I was appointed as Director of Attendance and Student Welfare in 2010 and became part of the Academy’s Senior Leadership Team. I have worked in the education sector since 1996 and within the Education Welfare Service for a Local Authority in South Yorkshire since 2003, where I managed a team of Education Welfare Officers and gave advice to schools on improving attendance. I firmly believe that by achieving the best attendance possible, students make the most of their education both academically and socially and improve their chances in adult life. Good attendance is a high priority for the Academy. I have successfully raised the profile of attendance throughout the Academy and have implemented recognition for those students who achieve good attendance. My main role is to provide support to those students and their families who have difficulties which affect their attendance at the Academy. Attendance levels have improved year on year since I joined Outwood Grange Academy and with continued support, this trend is set to continue.
