Much to celebrate!!!
Welcome to the new look website for Outwood Grange Academy in Wakefield. If you’ve visited our old website before you’ll notice that the layout has changed and if you’re a first time visitor you’ll also find it helpful to understand how the sections within the new website work by visiting the explanation about ‘The Deeps’ which can be found under the Deep Leadership button above.
Much to celebrate!
Last year’s results were yet again our best ever. 77% of students achieved 5+A*-C including GCSE English and Maths with 99% achieving 5+A*-C grades. The students in the sixth form also produced superb results smashing our extremely ambitious targets for them by getting an average UCAS point score of 315. Our current students have much to celebrate too with many of them meeting or exceeding their target grades: they have laid an excellent foundation on which to build further success this year. Some excellent photos of the results day can be found by following the link to our Fickr page.
We’re also celebrating our Year 9 Rugby League team’s achievements. In August they won the national Rugby League final, which they played at The Stoop stadium in Twickenham, for the third year running! To excel at the highest level once was a superb achievement but to win as a squad in Year 7 (2009), Year 8 (2010) and then again this year is phenomenal. It was an honour to walk round Wembley stadium with them prior to the Challenge Cup final being played. Again some great photos can be found at our Flickr page.
Along with other highlights like achieving Teaching School status, obtaining an Outstanding Ofsted monitoring visit and many others too numerous to mention we had a wonderful year.
Our thoughts now turn to the new academic year. We welcomed 360 new Year 7s to the Academy on 2 September and Post 16 students are busy signing up to courses ready for the challenges ahead. We are delighted to open new facilities for our students with our long awaited £2.6 million Sports Hall opening: it’s an amazing space! We also have a new toilet block for our students comfort and many other building works being completed to further enhance our site. Plans are now being drawn up for the next building project – more details soon.
We hope that every student has a wonderful year and achieves their hopes and ambitions.
