Outwood Grange Academy holds high expectations for all of its students and academic success is one of the many things that we hope all out students strive towards.
Central to this success will be how students prepare for their examinations. Throughout the courses that students have chosen, their subject teachers will be helping students and giving them strategies to help them to learn what they have learnt and then apply this in their exams.
The examination period can be extremely stressful for students, parents/carers and teachers; therefore we try to support students during this difficult time in the following ways:
• After school enrichment – each department will offer sessions after school to revise and practice exam technique with their students. All students are welcomed and encouraged to attend as often as possible. Students that attend these sessions often achieve or exceed their target grades.
• Useful websites – each department will have a list of websites that students can access to assist with their revision. Examples of some of the best ones are given below:
www.revisiononline.com
www.s-cool.co.uk
www.reviseit.com
www.projectgcse.co.uk
www.bbc.co.uk/schools/revision
www.samlearning.co.uk
www.schoolsnet.com
• Assemblies – approaching the exam period, assemblies take place to show students the why revision is important for their future and give them tips on how to revise.
Revision Study Skills booklets – these are given to students alongside their assembly to help them with ways to revise and how to organise and plan their time both before and during the exam. A timetable is provided to encourage students to plan their revision.
