We are pleased to be regarded as one of the top 40 schools for Religious Studies in the Good Schools guide. The core Religious Studies team consists of six specialists. We follow the Wakefield Agreed Syllabus at Key stage 3 and follow the Edexcel GCSE Religious Studies course at Key stage 4 studying Christianity and Islam through a variety of topics based on everyday issues in our multi faith society. Our A Level students study and excel in the Edexcel GCE in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics. We also teach the Level 2 extended certificate, Level 2 diploma, Level 3 subsidiary diploma and the Level 3 diploma in Public Services as careers working with the public are a natural progression for students with a deep seated interest in working with people.
We are passionate about ensuring that every child has the opportunity to explore their own and others spirituality. We believe that a thorough knowledge of other people’s beliefs will lead to greater tolerance and respect not only in our Academy but also in the wider community. The courses we teach encourage students to engage in debates about different attitudes to moral issues, learning to listen to other's points of view and coming to their own conclusion.
