KS3

Y7 – 1 Lesson per week (1 hour lesson) – Mixed ability groups.
Y8 – 2 Lessons per week (1 hour lessons) – Setted groups.

KS4

Y9, Y10 + Y11 taught together in Vertical teaching groups.
5 hours per week (One 3 hour lesson + One 2 hour lesson)

Other Information

The History Department at Outwood Grange Academy has an outstanding reputation for A-Level teaching and results. It is a fast-growing and forward thinking department that is consistently increasing its student recruitment levels and achieved excellent GCSE results in 2010. The History team is made up of three full time members of staff and two part time members of staff who teach in a suite of rooms dedicated to History.

At Key Stage 3 we follow the new thematic curriculum, which includes Conflict, the Development of Political Power and Empire. At Key Stage 4 we offer two GCSE History courses - AQA SHP (American West and Medicine Through Time) alongside the Edexcel Modern World course. Our popular OCR A-Level course consists of two modules at AS - Dictatorship and Democracy in Germany and Post - War Britain 1951-1994. Then a further two modules at A2 - The Challenge of German Nationalism 1789-1919 and a coursework unit on Russian Revolutions 1894-1924.

In September 2010 we also introduced an AS-Level course in Government and Politics and from September 2011 we will be offering A2 Level Government & Politics.
