At Outwood Grange we have embraced the Personalising Learning agenda and feel very strongly that curriculum design and redesign has a major part to play in the meeting of students’ needs. We have tried to provide opportunities for ‘assessment when ready’ and choice, flexibility and progression are key elements of our curriculum offer. We see the curriculum as the building blocks on which good teaching and learning can take place.
Ofsted (November 2006) said of the Outwood Grange Curriculum:
"The curriculum in the main school is outstanding, because it supports all groups of students to make outstanding progress. Lower attaining students in particular benefit from its flexibility, which allows them to concentrate on areas of study that will give them the best chances in later life. Students are able to select an individual route and work at their own pace, across a range of subjects that suits their ability and their interests, confident in the knowledge that each pathway will lead them to further opportunities. Work based courses offer a more practical approach, whilst accelerated programmes enable some students to move more quickly to higher levels of academic study."
