Year 13 BTEC and A-level Biologists spent the morning sampling a method based on the OPAL water survey at RHS in Harlow Carr. They looked at the presence and absence of invertebrate species which are sensitive to and tolerant of pollution. By carrying the survey out in two different water courses, they learnt about how different invertebrates are adapted to two different types of water.
We got some fantastic samples and look forward to carrying out some statistical tests to compare the two water types. Well done to all students who demonstrated impeccable attitudes to learning. The Science department are looking forward to reading the reports very soon.
